Tigers stay hot
Seven players score in dominant win

Iowa Valley 70, Lone Tree 12
MARENGO — The Tigers stayed hot in a convincing win over Lone Tree Friday night, scoring 70 plus points again.
This time, scoring was spread out among seven different players.
“We had a great team win and had a lot of guys step up,” Iowa Valley head coach Casey Krull said.
“We started slow in the first half, but we were able to make some adjustments on offense and get things rolling.”
Nolan Kriegel had a total of three touchdowns, one passing and two rushing, and Ian Smith added two rushing touchdowns with 112 yards.
The lone receiving touchdown came from Owen Bral on a 50-yard catch.
Layne Peska scored on special teams, returning a kick to the house from 65 yards out.
The defense also made some nice plays for the Tigers.
“Layne had a nice game defensively with two interceptions,” Krull said. “Caleb Haack also had a nice game on defense with four TFL and one interception as well.”
Williamsburg 55, West Branch 10
WEST BRANCH — The Raiders started the season strong, winning big in West Branch Friday night.
New quarterback Grant Hocker threw for six touchdowns for 264 yards.
Three of those went to Rayce Heitman, who scored a hat trick in the first quarter. Cael Moore snatched two receiving touchdowns, racking up 90 yards for the game.
The play of the night came on the defensive side when Carson Grier returned a fumble for 90 yards and a touchdown.
The Raiders’ defense forced four turnovers.
Cedar Rapids Xavier comes to town Friday in the Raiders’ home opener.
Midland 19, English Valleys 14
NORTH ENGLISH — The Bears fought hard and almost got their first win of the season Friday.
Midland held a 13-0 lead at the half, but the Bears rallied, scoring 14 in the third to take the lead.
The Eagles scored the game-winning touchdown in the fourth and held on for the win.
Anthony Harrington rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown for Midland.
The Bears will look for their win of the season next week against HLV.
BGM 86, Meskwaki 6
TAMA — Beau Burns added eight touchdowns this week to his nine last week and was perfect through the air, going 8-for-8 with 210 yards in Friday night’s football game against Meskwaki.
Freshman Robby Tometich scored his first career touchdown and had 93 yards on the ground.
Nathan Findlay scored two receiving touchdowns for 77 yards, and Tate Martin returned another kickoff for a touchdown — his second of the season.
The Bears will play at home against Twin Cedars this week
SE Warren 50, Montezuma 44
LIBERTY CENTER — The Braves suffered their first loss of the season in a back-and-forth game against Southeast Warren Friday.
Brady Boulton threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Brett Plants led the team in rushing with 143 yards.
The air attack of the Warhawks proved to be the difference in the game as Cam Seuferer threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
