Tigers win 18-hole home tourney
Rhinehart finishes runner-up for HLV-TC

MARENGO — Rainy conditions throughout the Tiger Tourney didn’t keep the Iowa Valley girls golf team from clinching the team title Friday at Marengo Golf Club.
The Tigers shot a team score of 485 in their first 18-hole meet of the season.
“The girls did a nice job in the weather today,” Iowa Valley coach Martin Wieck said. “They did just enough, and that’s what it takes.”
Lynnville-Sully held a lead throughout, but the Tigers were able to finish strong at the end and win by five strokes.
“Coach Smith and I are super proud of them and the work they have been putting in,” Wieck added.
Alivia Rabe was the top-finisher for the Tigers. She finished third with a 114 on the par-72. Jasmine Slaymaker was fourth with a 116.
“Alivia has been consistent for us and always stays level headed out there,” Wieck said.
HLV-TC came in third with a 496 and two top-five finishers.
Ashlyn Rhinehart finished runner-up with a 113, and Aly Kempf tied for fifth with a 117. Rhinehart carded a par on three holes, and Kempf birdied the par-four hole three.
Montezuma was fourth with a 513, led by top 10 finishes from Claire Erselius and Addilyn Ver Meer. Erselius was ninth with a 119 and Ver Meer 10th, with a 121.
The two have consistently led the Bravettes this season.
All three teams will now gear up for the postseason.
The South Iowa Cedar League girls’ meet will be May 12 at Oskaloosa Public Golf starting at 9 a.m.
