On the Fourth of July, President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law, delivering on the mandate 77 million Americans gave him to restore strength, prosperity and pride in our nation.
This historic law prevents the largest tax hike on Iowa families and small businesses in American history by making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. It increases the child tax credit, provides a $6,000 tax break for seniors, reduces taxes on tips and overtime, brings manufacturing back home and restores American energy dominance.
It secures the border for good by ending catch-and-release, finishing the wall and equipping thousands of new agents to stop fentanyl, crime and chaos.
It strengthens and preserves Medicaid for the vulnerable, children, pregnant women, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities, and delivers $50 billion in new relief to rural hospitals that serve communities like ours.
This is a once-in-a-generation achievement for the American people. It puts America first, protects our future and proves what’s possible when we come together to fight for freedom and deliver results.
Iowans were staring down the barrel of the largest tax increase in our nation’s history. Every family, every farm, every small business would have paid the price. This law stops that disaster.
This means more money in your pocket, stability for rural businesses and fewer headaches at tax time.
We don’t live on the southern border — but we’ve felt the impact of its failure. Fentanyl has taken over 500 Iowan lives per year. Small towns have seen crime and human trafficking increase. This law delivers the most serious border crackdown in American history.
As a former small business owner, I remember running payroll before paying myself. I know how hard it is to get by when taxes go up and government keeps taking. This law changes that. It makes the 20% small business tax deduction permanent, reinstates and doubles full and immediate expensing so Iowa manufacturers can invest and expands Opportunity Zones to fuel private investment in rural towns.
Under Joe Biden, Iowa families saw record-high heating and utility costs. Energy prices have crushed rural hospitals, manufacturing plants, and family farms alike. This bill
Raising a family and aging with dignity shouldn’t come with penalties. This law delivers targeted, long-overdue tax relief to the people who need it most.
I’ve seen how stress from financial insecurity affects every part of a family’s life. This bill eases that burden and lets families breathe again.
When you work harder, you should earn more — not owe more.
This is a bill that finally respects the dignity of work. That says to every Iowan doing an extra shift or serving tables late at night: we see you. And we’re on your side.
As a physician, I’ve seen firsthand how vital Medicaid is for Iowa’s most vulnerable. children with special needs, pregnant women, low-income seniors and veterans who have sacrificed for our country. But for too long, this critical safety net has been weighed down by fraud, waste and abuse.
The One Big Beautiful Bill takes real action to fix that. It strengthens Medicaid so those who truly need help can get it, and ensures resources go where they’re needed, not to illegal immigrants or those who are ineligible.
And for rural communities across Iowa, the bill delivers $50 billion in new relief for rural hospitals. This investment means more access to care, shorter wait times, and a stronger safety net for the people who make this country work.
This bill is restoring America’s strength, rebuilding our economy and reviving the values that made our country great.
For Iowa, it’s a return to common sense. To putting families before bureaucracy. To believing in hard work, faith in country, and pride in our communities.
From stopping the largest tax hike in history to securing our border and boosting small towns, this is a once-in-a-generation victory.
Thank you for letting me serve you.
