Two years after the Dobbs decision
By Rep. Ashley Hinson
Jul. 1, 2024 11:11 am
This week marked two years since our prayers were answered and Roe v. Wade was overturned. Since the Supreme Court made this historic decision, countless lives have been saved.
To me, the pro-life movement has never been just about ending abortion, but about valuing life at every stage. From the second a woman finds out she is pregnant, she should be surrounded by support, confident in her ability to access care and empowered to choose life.
In Congress, I’m proud to champion a culture of life and am leading on policies that will save as many lives as possible. I helped introduce the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act. The bill expands prenatal care via telehealth, provides funding opportunities for community organizations that provide medical care, housing and parenting education and creates a new website with personalized resources for new and expecting moms.
I will continue to champion a culture of life and work to save as many moms and babies as possible. Read on for more information about my recent work for Iowans.
Around Iowa
Thank you to everyone who came out to my town hall in Decorah. I shared a legislative update and took questions on border security, inflation, the Farm Bill and more.
I hosted my 40th in-person town hall meeting since taking office in Fayette. I answered questions on returning the government spending process to regular order, supporting our rural communities and cutting government red tape.
I always appreciate hearing from Iowans
Our regional USDA offices provide vital resources to our farmers. Thanks to the team in Fayette County for sitting down with me to discuss ways we can cut red tape, promote conservation, and support Iowa agriculture.
Three Rivers FS is a farmer-owned agricultural cooperative serving producers in Northeast Iowa. We discussed their services and my efforts to support Iowa agriculture in Congress
I really enjoyed attending the Eastern Iowa Field Day to showcase amateur radio and simulate emergency communications. Thanks to the Amateur Radio Relay League for putting on such a great community event.
It was great to meet with the Iowa Truck Dealers from Iowa Automobile Dealers Association and discuss ways we can support Iowa’s auto industry, push back against EV mandates to protect consumer choice and keep gas prices low for Iowa families.
