NORTH ENGLISH — The English Valleys History Center has a different kind of program coming this month.
In its ongoing pursuit of topics of value and interest to the community, The History Center will introduce the community’s new attorney, Grant Taylor, Sunday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. to discuss several topics.
Grant received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from San Diego State University in 2012, according to a biography provided by The History Center. He received his Juris Doctorate with highest distinction in 2017 from the University of Iowa College of Law, and he was elected to the Order of the Coif, a prestigious award given for legal scholarship.
While in law school, Grant worked part-time at Bloethe, Elwood & Buchanan in Victor. He was hired full time upon passing the bar in 2017.
Since 2021, Grant Taylor, Josh Kraushaar, and Thomas Buchanan have practiced law as partners at Bloethe, Elwood & Buchanan in Victor and at Elwood, Elwood & Buchanan in Williamsburg.
Elwood, Elwood & Buchanan currently operates in North English. The office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment.
At EV History Center, Grant will explain such things as default inheritance rules without a will, planning considerations when children are not from present marriage, trust provisions for children, guardian provisions for minor children, power of attorney forms and proper titling of assets.
He may also discuss ways to hold title — as tenants in common, joint ownership with right of survivorship, in a partnership or a limited liability company — and the typical rights of each co-owner in different cases.
The EV History Center is located at 108 N. Main St. in North English. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
