Victor library receives grant
Apr. 9, 2024 3:44 pm
VICTOR — Victor Public Library is one of 310 libraries selected to participate in round two of Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.
The competitive award comes with a $10,000 grant libraries can use to add automatic doors to restrooms, motion-activated lighting to hallways and restrooms and more large print books to collections.
“We are so proud to be chosen for this amazing opportunity,” said Library Director Tiffany Lynn. “This grant will allow our library to be more accessible to all of our patrons. It will help us improve our facilities to ensure this population feels welcome and comfortable in our space.”
To fulfill grant requirements, Victor Public Library staff will take an online course in how to lead conversations and will host a conversation with residents about accessibility and the use the grant funds.
Anyone interested in taking part in the conversation should contact Tiffany Lynn at tiffany.lynn@victor.lib.ia.us, call 319-647-3646, or visit www.victor.lib.ia.us for more information.
