Victor Lions Club looks for volunteers
Mar. 8, 2024 11:56 am
VICTOR -- The Victor Lions are seeking service-minded men and women to join them in making a difference in the community.
Around the world, Lions are serving their neighborhoods and beyond while focusing on five global causes including vision, hunger, the environment, childhood cancer and diabetes, the club said in a news release.
The club will host an informal session April 1 in the Victor Library community room at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The public is invited to attend to learn more about the club.
“We want to share the impact we’re making in the community, and let others know how they can help,” said Club President Susan Wilgenbusch.
The Lions International motto is “We Serve,” and the Victor Lions has lived up to it, the news release says.
For more than 60 years, the Victor Lions has been involved with the annual Easter egg hunt and road-side clean-up along Highway 6 and has donated to many local, area, and international causes.
The Lions have done vision screening for pre-school children in area schools for many years.
Lions International's 1.4 million members in more than 49,000 clubs serve communities in over 200 countries, the news release says.
Since 1917, Lions Clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired, championed youth initiatives, and strengthened local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects.
“We have a lot of fun, while doing service that makes life better for someone. It feels good. Many hands make light work, and more hands allow more good things to be accomplished,” said Wilgenbusch.
