Victor man killed on I-80

WILLIAMSBURG — A 76-year-old Victor man died Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 80 near Williamsburg.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Roger Allen Evans had left his vehicle and was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I-80 to retrieve items that had blown out of his vehicle.
Evans was struck by a 2012 Buick Lacrosse driven by Alysia M. West, 47, of Millersburg.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. near mile marker 219 and was still under investigation as of Sunday morning.
Williamsburg police and fire and Iowa County EMS assisted at the scene.
A private family prayer service with military honors will be held Tuesday, April 8 at Smith Funeral Home in Victor. A visitation will follow from 5-7 p.m.
