W’burg baseball knocks out seven games in four days

Williamsburg’s baseball team was busy last week, playing seven games in four days and winning six of those games to improve their record to 14-7.
SOUTH TAMA
The Class 2A eighth-ranked Raiders swept a WaMaC doubleheader from the Trojans Monday, June 5, at Tama.
Nine hits propelled Williamsburg to a 10-3 victory in Game 1.
Seniors Landon Jepson and Trey O’Neil each had two hits, including a homer by Jepson who drove in three runs, and O’Neil scored all three times he reached base.
Rayce Heitman added an RBI double and Sam Rich, Ty Becker, Nile Sinn and Dallon Whitehill chipped in RBI singles.
Whitehill earned the win, pitching no-hit ball for three innings while retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced, three by strikeout.
The Raiders also totaled nine hits in Game 2, winning 12-2 in five innings.
Sinn led the attack, going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Gavin Jensen tripled to drive in two runs, and Heitman had a two RBI single. Jepson also drove in a run on a base hit.
Heitman picked up the win, allowing both runs on two hits in three innings of work. He walked one and struck out four, Rich threw two innings of hitless, scoreless relief.
FAIRFIELD
Williamsburg rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to wipe out a 4-2 deficit and beat Fairfield at home Tuesday, June 6, 6-4.
Rich and Heitman both went 3-for-3 at the plate, with Rich driving in two runs and Heitman scoring thrice. Jepson and Cael Moore added RBI hits.
Becker, O’Neil and Moore combined to pitch a three-hitter, recording four strikeouts between them. Moore, in 2-1/3 innings of relief work, got the win.
ANAMOSA/COLO-NESCO
The Raiders nipped Anamosa 9-8 in nine innings and blew out Colo-Nesco 10-0 in a tournament Wednesday, June 7, at Waterloo’s Riverfront Stadium.
Williamsburg took an 8-3 lead into the seventh inning against Anamosa before a five-run rally by the Blue Raiders forced extra innings.
Jepson led a 14-hit Williamsburg attack with a single, two doubles and four RBI. Gavin Jensen collected three hits as well, one a double, and drove in two runs; Sinn also doubled and Rich, Heitman and Logan Rethwisch stroked RBI singles.
Rich, in relief of Whitehill, earned the win, holding Anamosa scoreless over the final 2-1/3 innings.
Carter Capper pitched one-hit ball over five innings, striking out three, in Williamsburg’s mercy run rule victory over Colo-Nesco.
O’Neil went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of triples, two RBI and two runs scored, and Madox Doehrmann ws 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Rich added two hits and Heitman chipped in an RBI single.
WEST DELAWARE
The Raiders split a WaMaC Conference doubleheader with the Hawks Thursday, June 8, at Williamsburg.
Williamsburg won the opener 10-1, and dropped the nightcap 4-3.
