W’burg boys golfers hit the links

It was a busy and successful week for the Williamsburg boys' golf team with four meets in six days yielding a trio of second-place finishes.
SOLON TRIANGULAR
The Raiders began the week Monday, April 10, in a 9-hole triangular at Solon, shooting a 168 to place second between the host Spartans (155) and Mount Vernon (194).
Junior Crew Klinger fired a two-over-par 36 to lead Williamsburg, sharing low round honors with Solon's Jack McCarty and Isaiah Zoska.
Junior Bryce Yearian added a 40 for the Raiders, and seniors Trey O'Neil and David Mullnix chipped in a 44 and 46, respectively.
RAIDER CO-ED INVITE
Williamsburg made a strong bid to win its own 18-hole co-ed invitational Wednesday, April 12, at Stone Creek Golf Club, placing second two shots behind Clear Creek Amana, 333-335.
Klinger (43-40-83) and Yearian (41-42-83) led the Raiders, sharing runner-up medalist honors behind CCA's Zack McCarty, who fired a tourney low two-over-par 36-37-73.
Mullnix (45-39-84), O'Neil (46-39) and freshman Cooper Bott (46-41-87) rounded out the Raiders' top five.
CP-U TRIANGULAR
Williamsburg shot a 168 to finish third to West Delaware (163) and Center Point-Urbana (165) in a 9-hole triangular Thursday, April 13, at Wildcat Golf Course, Shellsburg.
Yearian carried the Raiders with a 40. O'Neil shot 41, Mullnix 43 and Bott and Klinger 44. West Delaware's Aidan Zirtzman was medalist with a three-over-par 39.
BOBCAT INVITE
Williamsburg wrapped-up the week Saturday, April 15, with a second-place finish in the 18-hole Bobcat Invitational at Tara Hills Country Club, Van Horne.
The Raiders totaled 316 strokes to finish in front of seven other teams in the field. Only CCA, with a 312, topped them.
O'Neil fired two rounds of 38 for a 76 to pace Williamsburg. Robbie Allison followed with a 39-40-79, Klinger shot a 37-43-80 and Bott came in with a 41-40-81.
Center Point-Urbana's Christian Burkhart was medalist with a 74, and CCA's Zach McCarty runner-up with a 75.
