Friends of the Marengo Public Library will host Secret Iowa: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure at 1 p.m. at the Marengo library, 235 E. Hilton St. Author Megan Bannister will talk about Iowa’s offbeat destinations, roadside attractions and unique things to see and do.

First United Methodist Church of Marengo will have its annual hamball super from 4-6 p.m. at the church at 895 Court Avenue in Marengo. The menu includes hamballs, potatoes, vegetables and a beverage. The cost is $12. Dine-in and carryout are available. Delivery is available in Marengo only by calling 319-642-3146.

UnityPoint Health-Grinnell Regional Medical Center is partnering with LifeServe Blood Center to host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Grinnell Regional’s Tomasek Conference Room on the first floor of the medical center in Grinnell. Donors should enter through the main entrance, located on the south side of the building at 210 Fourth Avenue, and follow posted signs to the Tomasek Conference Room. Jay Gorsh, candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives, will kick off his campaign from 3-5 p.m. at 700 North St. in Williamsburg. Parking is available on Wilson, Madison and Long Streets. Residents should bring lawn chairs.

Iowa author Deborah Hufford will be at the Williamsburg Public Library at 6 p.m. Hufford’s debut novel, “Blood to Rubies,” was named Book of the Year in 2023 by the American Writing Awards. The event is free. Books will be available for purchase.
