The University of Iowa football team ended its season on a high note, defeating Vanderbilt, 34-27, Wednesday in the ReliaQuest Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
It also marked the end of a memorable season for former Williamsburg prep, Kaden Wetjen.
The All-American returner finished the game with 74 returns yards (punt and kick) and added two carries for three yards.
Wetjen finished the season with 563 punt return yards, 476 kick return yards, 151 receiving yards, 79 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Another former Williamsburg football player, Derek Weisskopf, also saw some playing time on special teams this season.
Weisskopf finished with four tackles, one a solo.
As we’re fully into the winter season, several other notable Hometown Current preps are also competing in college across several sports.
