WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Lindsey Carey of Exhilarating Gettaways Travel, a Chamber member, for a trip to the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park.
The Chamber will host an informational meeting Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Williamsburg Public Library at 6 p.m. to gauge interest.
The proposed trip, set for Aug. 2-8, 2026, would cost between $4,800 and $6,000 per person. The price includes round-trip airfare from Des Moines, transportation from Williamsburg to the airport, hotel transfers, accommodations, 10 meals, a tour director, motor coach transportation, admission fees and gratuities.
Travelers would arrive in Calgary, Alberta, Canada Sunday, Aug. 2 and gather for a welcome briefing that evening.
They would visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, led by a Blackfoot guide, Monday, Aug. 3, and continue to Waterton Lakes National Park.
Day three would consist of a visit to Glacier National Park and a ride aboard one of its famous Jammer cars along the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
On Day four, travelers would visit Banff and the Bow Falls and Surprise Corner, known for its picture-perfect panoramic views.
On Thursday, Aug. 6, travelers would visit the Athabasca Glacier, riding across the glacial ice or walking onto a glass -bottom platform at the Columbia Icefield Skywalk. They’ll stop at Peyto Lake before heading back to Banff.
Day 6 would include a visit to Lake Louise and lunch at the Ski Lake Louise Lodge, followed by a gondola ride up the mountain to 6, 850 feet.
The tour ends Saturday, Aug. 8.
The trip is open to anyone in the community, said Chamber Director Erin Eichhorn. More like passive income. Many Chambers offer these tour trips in their communities.
The Chamber will recieve a small amount of money from each person’s fee. The Chamber needs 15 people to sign up for an all-Williamsburg trip. If fewer people sign up, they will have to go with a different group.
Carey will accompany the group. Deadline to sign up will be February 2026.
