Williamsburg runner fifth in cross-country invitational

INDIANOLA — A Williamsburg woman finished fifth in the Bill Buxton Invitational Aug. 30, helping Des Moines Area Community College to a second-place finish.
The Bears score 53 points in the season-opening meet in Indianola.
All six DMACC runners finish in the top 20, led by freshman Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg, who finished in 16:41.
Freshmen Kayden Spencer,, of Boone, finished sixth in 16:51, and Grace Collins, of Johnston, finished eighth in 17:10.
Simpson College won the team championship with 19 points Simpson’s Lara Kallem took medalist honors with a time of 15 minutes, 17 seconds over the 4K course.
DMACC sophomores Jillian Prouty, of Oelwein, Madison Beaune, of Jewell, and Mkenzie Robinson, of Marshalltown, finished 16th, 18th and 19th. Prouty turned in a time of 18:49. Beaune toured the course in 19 minutes, and Robinson was timed at 19:21.
The DMACC women’s cross-country team will run in the Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 15 at Mason City.
