Williamsburg school audit shows 11% increase in expenses
Mar. 20, 2024 10:07 am
Terpstra Hoke and Associates P.C., Certified Public Accountants released an audit report on Williamsburg Community School District this week.
The District's revenues totaled $21,211,517 for the year ended June 30, 2023, a 6.5% increase from the prior year, the report said.
Expenses for District operations for the year ended June 30, 2023, totaled $18,987,195, a 10.7% increase from the prior year. The significant increase in expenses is due primarily to the purchase of computers through a purchase agreement arrangement, auditors said.
The auditor reported five findings related to the receipt and expenditure of taxpayer funds. They are found in the Schedule of Findings and Questioned Costs of this report.
The District was provided with recommendations to address each of the findings. Three of the five findings discussed above are repeated from the prior year.
A copy of the audit report will be available for review in the District Secretary’s office and on the Auditor of State’s website at auditor.iowa.gov/audit-reports.
