WILLIAMSBURG — A Williamsburg High School student is in the student spotlight in Kirkwood Iowa County’s fall newsletter.
Ashlynn Fuhrman, a senior at Williamsburg, began taking classes at Kirkwood her sophomore year of high school, she says in the newsletter.
Furhman especially enjoyed taking introduction to entrepreneurship, she said. “I liked that class was because it was hands on. I was able to learn how to start a business and what has to go into it before it can be profitable. Before taking the class I had very little knowledge of how to run a business.”
Lynette Stourac (student and academic support coordinator for Benton and Iowa Counties) has made a lasting impression on Furhman, she said. “She has helped me through finding the classes that I need for my future career.”
Fuhrman said college credit classes prepares students for their futures by allowing them to explore their options before committing to a major. “It also allows students to experience what college courses are like and it help students organize their time,” she said in the newsletter.
Fuhrman plans to continue her education at Kirkwood Community College and study early childhood education or elementary education, the newsletter says.
