MARENGO — Fireside Winery will host a mystery by James Daab Valentine’s Day weekend.
But “Murdered by the Mob” is less about romance and more about murder.
“Welcome to D’Angelo’s, the hottest speakeasy in all of Chicago. If you think the ’20s are roaring, you ain’t heard nothin’ ’til you’ve been to this joint,” says TKM Theatrical Productions of Amana, which is producing the play.
“The jazz is hot, and the gin is cold. Our master of ceremonies, Johnny Biscotti has his best show yet, featuring the ever-popular Lydia LaJoy, and introducing a couple of cute chorines sure to turn the head of even the toughest mobster.
“The boss himself, Danny D’Angelo is sure to make an appearance, along with several of his, uh, ‘business associates.’ So, sit back, order yourself an ‘iced tea’ and enjoy the show.”
Friday and Saturday evening shows, Feb. 14 and 15, will include plated, three-course meals. The speakeasy will open at 6:30 p.m. on these performance nights, with the first course served around 7 p.m.
The night will begin with a glass of sparkling wine. The first course will be salad and a breadbasket. The main course is chicken piccata and grilled vegetable lasagna.
The dessert, tiramisu, will end the meal. Peppercorn Food Co. of Cedar Rapids is catering the meal.
Additional drinks, including wines and FireCiders, will be available for purchase throughout the night.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday evening shows are $80.
The Sunday matinee, Feb. 16, will not include a meal, but rather a dessert and coffee bar. The doors will open at 1:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 2 p.m.
Additional drinks, including wines and hard ciders, will be available for purchase throughout afternoon. Tickets for the Sunday show are $40.
Patrons are invited to dress in their fanciest 1920s attire.
Fireside Winery is located at 1755 P Ave. south of Marengo.
