SALEM — Salem Old Settlers saw 141 participants bright and early Saturday morning at their fun run for the 141st year of the community event.
According to a committee member, 112 individuals showed up for the 2.2 mile run and 29 children came out for the half-mile kids’ run. The run started on the east side of the square, made its way onto the nature trail, and finished on the square.
Bode Huebner and Brinley Lair were the first boy and girl to cross the finish line for the kids’ race and win bragging rights. Rick Pahl nabbed the male winner title for the 2.2-mile run with a time of 12 minutes and 21 second. Kya Heaton earned the women’s winner title for the 2.2-mile run. The oldest participant in this year’s fun run was Jack Bates and the youngest was Oakley Shilling.
The committee gave out gold and silver for both male and females in each age group.
Participants enjoyed ice cream courtesy of Kramer’s Gas & Grocery following the race before heading out to enjoy the rest of the Old Settlers activities over the weekend.
