A new school year brings new teachers

MT PLEASANT — It’s that time of year again, teachers and families are preparing for a new school year. Take some time to get to know the newest teachers to the area.

Harlan Elementary newest first grade teacher is a 2018 Buena Vista graduate who grew up in Council Bluffs, Anna Boeding.

Boeding moved to the area to with her husband as she enters her fifth year of teaching.

“I am so excited to be teaching first grade again!” she said.

What was your favorite part of school growing up?

My favorite part of school growing up was when my teachers read aloud to the class.

When my kindergarten/first grade teacher would read to us I dreamed of being like her when I grew up.

As a teacher now myself, that is still one of my favorite parts of the day.

I work really hard to find books that my students would love, and grow their love of books.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

If I won the lottery I don’t think I would quit teaching, but I would love to buy a large piece of land and have a hobby farm with a large garden!

How do you get hyped for the school day?

I love to listen to my favorite music or podcasts on my way to work in the mornings.

This helps me relax and prepare myself for the day!

What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?

My favorite thing about being a teacher is building relationships with kids and creating your own little classroom family.

If you could pass on any piece of wisdom what would it be?

If I could pass any wisdom on to anyone really, I would say to just be yourself because you can't be anybody else!
