MT. PLEASANT — Addington Place rang in the holiday season and an announcement of a new management company with a festive Chamber of Commerce Alive After Five event Wednesday evening.
An evening filled with networking opportunities also offered a full array of holiday fun from festive decorations to live music to delicious drinks and yummy snacks.
According to Addington Place Community Relations Director Cody Flietner, the evening also included five door prizes of cozy winter goodies.
Addington Place staff took this opportunity to announce a management team for the assisted living home.
Formerly under the management of Jaybird Senior Living, Flietner is excited to see where their new partnership with Discovery Senior Living takes them.
According to Flietner this transition took effect Dec. 1, and it won’t change very much about how the Addington Place Community runs.
“Departments are going to stay the same, what we offer as far as amenity wise is going to stay the same,” Flietner said. “They still support our Dare to Dream program that we implemented a couple of years ago.”
Flietner said he is excited to see how this different company will support more community events, resident events, family focused programs, and their memory care division.
Continuing as Addington Place always has, Flietner says they look forward to hosting their Cookies with Santa Event Monday, Dec. 18.
The evening will include photo opportunities with Santa and his reindeer, fresh baked cookies, a hot cocoa bar, and music.
“I have a lady with her granddaughter making all the cookies,” Flietner said. “Then we’ll have that hot cocoa station with all the fixings: peppermints, chocolate chips, whip cream, and marshmallows.”
Additionally, Flietner says kids will get to write letters to Santa and mail them in their North Pole Mailbox and make special reindeer treats to take home and spread in their yards Christmas Eve.
Despite wearing a head-to-toe Christmas tree print suit at the Alive After Five, Flietner says he has an even flashier outfit set aside for Cookies with Santa and it definitely includes sequins.
“It gets better,” he said. “I’m saving the flashier for when we get closer to Christmas.”
