MT. PLEASANT — Addington Place of Mt. Pleasant recently held a “Lunch for a Cause” charity event, successfully raising $2,653 for the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club's Tree of Lights program, which helps local families in need during the holiday season.
The event, which invited community members to enjoy a delicious meal of open-faced roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, and pumpkin bars, brought together supporters to contribute to an important cause. The proceeds from the lunch will go directly to the Kiwanis Club’s Tree of Lights, a program that provides new clothing, books, blankets, and other essential items for children and families in the area.
“Thanks to the generosity of everyone who participated, we raised an incredible $2,653 for their Tree of Lights project!” Addington Place said in a statement announcing the outcome of the fundraiser. “These funds will go directly to supporting local families who could use a little extra holiday cheer this season.”
With this money Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis will be able to ensure at least 26 children receive essential gifts and holiday cheer as the Kiwanis spend $100 per child in the Tree of Lights program.
With the Kiwanis mission focused on improving the lives of children through community service, with a commitment to fostering positive, lasting changes in the lives of young people, a partnership with Addington Place’s Lunch for a Cause was a perfect fit to further strengthens the bond within the community and bring people together for a shared purpose.
Addington Place’s Lunch for a Cause event is a monthly charitable initiative that allows the public to enjoy a meal while supporting local causes such as the Kiwanis providing Christmas gifts for local children who may otherwise not have received them.
"The holiday season is all about coming together to support our community, and today was a perfect example of that," Addington Place shared in a statement after the event. "We were honored to partner with the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club for our Lunch for a Cause event, and we're thrilled with the success."
Addington Place’s Lunch for a Cause event and Kiwanis commitment to Tree of Lights prove to be a wonderful example of the spirit of giving making meaningful impacts throughout the community.
“Together, we’re spreading kindness and making a difference!” Addington Place added.
