AINSWORTH — Saturday, Ainsworth Fire Station raised $3,000 through their annual soup supper.
Upon arrival, Shirley Ward, 11-year-old daughter of volunteer firefighter Jonathon Ward, greeted guests to the soup supper.
“Merry Christmas!” she welcomed them and directed the guests to the table for donations, counter for a choice of soup, and into the truck bay for seating and deserts.
One of the truck bays contained a number of tables and chairs, most of which were nearly full a majority of the evening.
“It’s a fundraiser, so you can give money if you want to,” Shirley said. “I tried the chili, it’s really good.”
The fire department offered chili and potato soup for dine in, carry out, or drive through.
“We’ve been doing a lot of drive through orders and people coming in and eating,” Fire Chief Waylon Schultz said.
The funds from this soup supper are going into a more general fund, for now.
“In five or six years, we’re going to have to raise money for an engine, so we’re saving some money for that,” Schultz said.
According to Schultz, the next fire station fundraiser is the annual biscuits and gravy drive through breakfast in March.
