MT. PLEASANT — Recently, All God’s Creatures (AGC) closed on a property they intend to utilize for an animal shelter for Henry County.
According to AGC, their goal is “to connect the hands and paws of All God’s creatures in Henry County to build a happier, healthier community for all.”
Without another animal shelter in the county, AGC hopes to provide a safe space for stray and abandoned animals while they wait on their forever homes.
Board members for AGC consist of Cyndy Danielson, Ted Wiley, Kate Ridinger, Ashly Marley, Ann Klingensmith, and Kathy Nellor who partner with the First Presbyterian Church to bring this service to the county.
The facility is located at 2205 E. Washington St. in Mt. Pleasant, but according to Ridinger, they do not anticipate opening their doors until next year as they renovate and fund raise.
This newest phase in the organization’s efforts has been long awaited as fundraising began over three years ago.
The passionate people behind the AGC project, however, have not remained stagnant in the meantime.
In recent years, AGC has already made strides toward their goals of caring for animals and the community through participation in the trap, neuter, and release program for feral cats, and they are excited to do even more for the community and animals they care so much about.
During Old Threshers the AGC participated in the parade and were even able to sell wax melts and candles to raise funds for their nonprofit project.
The group will continue to fundraise, bring awareness, and recruit volunteers as they work on their new building.
