Another Dollar General coming to Henry County

WAYLAND — Thanks to the hard work of the Wayland Economic Development Corporation and town officials, Dollar General is officially coming to another Henry County town.

According to Meyer, the initial groundbreaking occurred Jan. 9 with an anticipated opening date in May.

Construction for the new Dollar General is underway east of Wayland at the Industrial Park.

As the contact for Industrial Park and other business opportunities, Meyer has worked closely with this project.

Much like officials in Winfield, Meyers found that the town had to put in a significant amount of work over a couple of years to secure a Dollar General.

After the grocery store closed a few years ago, Dollar General will fulfill a need in the small town.

“We don’t have any of the amenities that we need,” Meyer said. “So, we’re excited about it.”
