MT. PLEASANT — During a special meeting Monday night, the Mt. Pleasant Community School Board approved two change requests for the high school gymnasium duct work.
The first request would install a duct sock instead of the traditional steel duct work originally quoted for the project.
“This duct sock is for the gymnasium,” Superintendent John Henriksen said. “It is different than the hard duct work. We have color options with this that we don’t have with the hard duct work. The condensation is going to be less of a problem with this.”
According to Henriksen, the duct sock decreases the project cost by $24,159.40 from the original project bid.
Henriksen also recommended approving a second change request for the project that would add an additional circuit for the chiller water box.
“They have to run a dedicated circuit to the water box on the chiller so when the unit is not in service, it doesn’t freeze up,” Henriksen said.
The second change request adds $2,552.78 to costs.
Upon the recommendation of Henriksen, the board approved both changes.
Funds for this project come from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Fund (ESSR), which came from the CARES Act.
