MT. PLEASANT — Thursday, the last two Small Business of the Year finalist, Brown’s Shoe Fit and Wilson Distributor Service celebrated their nominations with open houses.
“I just think it's awesome that we've all kind of come together and can support each other. You guys all bring so much to the community,” Chamber Executive Vice President Rachel Lindeen said.
Brown’s owner Tara Mullin thanked the supportive chamber and community members for the nomination. She specifically expressed gratitude to her father Kurt Moon for his part in creating Brown’s success in the Mt. Pleasant Community.
“In the 71 years of Browns being in Mt. Pleasant, we've had a total of six partners with Kurt, Moon and myself making up over half of that time,” Mullin said. “Dad had this store for 33 years, and I'm, on year four, I became a partner in 2020, which was an awesome year to be.”
Mullin celebrated with a photo display of the store throughout the years and her grandmother’s snack mix.
Wilson also expressed gratitude to the community and their family for their success as a business as they welcomed guests, Thursday afternoon.
“We couldn’t do it without our hometown support,” Owner Jason Goody said. “For all our customers that support us across Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Missouri, thank you!”
