Saturday morning was chilly when New London’s Holiday Stroll committee set out to host an Easter bunny breakfast fundraiser.
Unfortunately, there were only approximately fifty people that showed up to the event.
Committee Member Chelsea Boecker wants to remind the community in the future that even when the weather is not the greatest, they are welcome to swing by for to-go orders.
While this fundraiser did not raise as much as the committee had hoped, Boecker says there are other opportunities coming up.
In November the Holiday Stroll Committee will be hosting a brand-new event called, “Let Your Little Shop.”
Children will be given the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for their families.
The gifts prices will be set at kid-friendly prices such as 25 cents, 50 cents and $1.
Adults can wait nearby outside while their children shop.
The committee is currently accepting donations of small to medium sized items for the shopping day.
“Examples of items we have collected so far include a waffle maker, a Scentsy basket, slippers, robes,” said Boecker, “We just want donations where the kiddos feel like they can do something special for their loved ones.”
Committee members are willing to pick up donations or they will accept drop-offs at Lorber Insurance Agency in New London.
If you have any questions, are a business that would like to make a donation, or would like information on how you can volunteer please contact either Linda Vacek at 563-212-0950 or Chelsea Boecker at 319-931-6962.
Be sure to follow the New London Iowa Holiday Stroll Facebook page to keep updated on all the events they are hosting.
