City Council approves staff raises

Council does not take a raise

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant City Council approved a 7% pay increase for full-time employees, part-time employees, and the volunteer fire department Wednesday night.

“The city is in a very good financial position,” City Council member Steve Engberg said. “The committee felt that the staff should be rewarded and compensated to get through these tough times we’re all going through.”

“Council and the mayor did not get a raise, just so you know,” Mayor Steve Brimhall said.

In the brief meeting, the board approved one-year contracts with WoodRiver Energy and Norris Asphalt Paving.

The board also approved Police Officer Ronald S. Galusha’s promotion to Police Sergeant.
