Mt. Pleasant Veterans Breakfast: Every third Friday at the Mt. Pleasant Veterans Hall from 8:30-9:30 a.m. All are welcome for this free-will donation breakfast.
Parent and play: The Family Connection of Henry and Washington Counties will host their Parent and Play groups on the second and fourth Wednesday mornings of each month from 9-10 a.m.
Tiger Food Pantry: Thursdays, 4-6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9-11 a.m., New London. The Tiger Pantry provides weekly food assistance to individuals and families in need.
Clark Elementary Fun Day: Thursday, May 22, 1:15 p.m., Clark Elementary, New London. Clark Elementary staff and volunteers will host games and water activities as part of their end-of-year celebration.
Flag Placements at Cemeteries: Thursday, May 22, various times, Forest Home, Old City, and St. Alphonsus Cemeteries, Mt. Pleasant. Volunteers will begin placing flags at veteran gravesites. Flags may only be placed where holders are installed. Families are responsible for ensuring holders are in place. Flags will be picked up Tuesday, May 27 at 4 p.m.
Greater Iowa Swap Meet & Flea Market: Friday, May 23, 7 a.m.-6 p.m., McMillan Park, Mt. Pleasant. This two-day event features crafts, flea market items, and vehicle parts. Admission and parking are free. Continues Saturday, May 24, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendor setup begins Thursday, May 22, at 5 p.m.
Henry County Heritage Trust Tag Sale: Friday, May 23, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 203 N. White Street, Mt. Pleasant. The sale includes books, maps, photos, yearbooks, and local ephemera. Most items are freewill donation. Call 319-217-6042 for details.
New London Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony: Friday, May 23, 10 a.m., New London High School Auditorium. Students will be honored as they transition to high school. Family and friends are welcome.

Veterans Memorial Dedication: Friday, May 23, 5 p.m., Burge Cemetery, rural New London. Includes a short program with speakers and military rites to honor the completion of the new memorial.
Courthouse Flag Raising: Saturday, May 24, 8 a.m., Courthouse Lawn, Mt. Pleasant. Flags will be raised in observance of Memorial Day. They will remain up for five days and be retired Wednesday, May 28, at 4 p.m., weather permitting.
Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market: Saturday, May 24, 8:30-11 a.m., Wright Family Pavilion, McMillan Park. The season opens with fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, and more. Also held Wednesdays, 4-6 p.m.
Farmhouse Central Vintage Market: Saturday, May 24, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Central Park, downtown Mt. Pleasant. Shop vintage finds, antiques, handmade goods, and more from regional vendors.
Trolley Trek Community Day: Saturday, May 24, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., McMillan Park, Yarmouth Depot. Enjoy rides on historic electric streetcars during the flea market.

Henry County Veterans Memorial Service: Monday, May 26, 10:30 a.m., Mt. Pleasant High School Gym, 2104 S. Grand Avenue. The service includes the presentation of colors, music, readings, guest speaker Taylor Collins, and recognition of seven individuals newly added to the memorial.
New London Memorial Day Observance: Monday, May 26, 2 p.m., New London Veterans Memorial. Public ceremony honoring veterans. Bring lawn chairs. Rain location is VFW Post 7641 at 802 E. McKinley.
Mt. Pleasant Family Aquatic Center Opening: Monday, May 26, 1-7 p.m., 600 W. Clay Street, Mt. Pleasant. The pool opens for the summer. Lap swim from 12-1 p.m. Closed May 27–30, reopening Friday, May 31.
Rick Rodgers Community Pool Open Hours: Monday, May 26, 1-6 p.m., 409 N. Clark Street, Winfield. Open Sunday–Thursday from 1-6 p.m., Friday–Saturday until 7 p.m.
224th Brigade Engineer Battalion Send-Off Ceremony: Thursday, May 29, 2:30 p.m., 405 E Thresher Rd, Mt. Pleasant. Community members are invited to honor and support local soldiers before their deployment. Soldiers report at 1:30 p.m. Ceremonies will also take place in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, and Johnston. The battalion will depart afterward for a month of training at Fort Johnson, Louisiana, before deploying to the Middle East.
Henry County 4-H STEM Camp: Wednesday, May 28, 1-3 p.m., HJ Nugen Library, New London. Elementary students can take part in “Dive into life under the sea” themed STEM activities. Free and open to the public.
Women: Woods, Wine, Flowers: Friday, May 30, 6 p.m., Oakland Mills Nature Center. An adults-only event for ages 21+. Learn to preserve flowers and create framed artwork. Alcohol provided. Bring your own if desired. Preregistration required at mycountyparks.com.
All God’s Creatures Vendor Show: Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 2205 E. Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant. Local vendors, shopping, and a food truck from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The shelter will be open from 12-4 p.m. Donations of pet supplies and cleaning products are welcomed.
