MT. PLEASANT — While the Community Days at the former Iowa Wesleyan University campus have been well received by the public, there is a change to the last day currently on the schedule.
Instead of the Chadwick Library opening on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 1-7 p.m., the building will open Thursday, Oct. 19 from 3-8 p.m.
The Community Days hosted by the Iowa Wesleyan board of trustees are open to the public and give them the opportunity to treasure hunt for mementos and useful items in the former university buildings.
These are first come, first served events and holding items is not allowed. Power tools are also prohibited at the events, but a small wagon to help carry things is acceptable.
After the Pioneer Hall’s commemorative plaque went missing following some Community Days, the public is reminded that they are allowed to take whatever they wish from the buildings, excluding items attached to the walls.
Thankfully, after offering $100 cash reward and promising “no questions asked,” on Oct. 4 shortly after 7 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance provided an updated only a few hours later that the plaque was returned.
