WINFIELD — Winfield-Mt. Union junior and senior high students dressed in their best 60s, 70s, and 80s gear as they performed throwback music for their annual Concert Café fundraiser over the weekend.
Music Director Lindsey Pogmore would mark this year’s Concert Café a success thanks to amazing costumes, great performances, and raising needed funds for the music department.
In addition to donning fun costumes which included students dressing up like David Bowie and Stevie Nicks, the junior high and high school bands and choirs performed along with some soloists and the jazz band to make up the entertainment for the evening as guests enjoyed snacking at tables.
According to Pogmore, funds brought in by the annual fundraiser concert usually go toward music department needs such as new music, new equipment, and the cost of attending events. This year’s concert brought in approximately $1,000.
“This year, one of the purchases we need to make is a new bass amp, after ours became ‘three-wheel drive’ instead of four, after one of our jazz band contests this year,” Pogmore said. “It's had a good run, and was an extremely appreciated donation to our program, but is ready to be a practice room amp now.”
