MT. PLEASANT—Henry County Conservation will host a Winter Open House December 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Oakland Mills Nature Center.
They invite guests of all ages to tour the nature center, play games, participate in a scavenger hunt, make ornaments, drink hot chocolate and other warm winter activities.
While pre-registration is not required, it is appreciated. To pre-register visit mycountyparks.com, find Henry County Parks, and search for the event at Oakland Mills Nature Center.
The link for registration is also available on the Conservation’s Facebook event for the open house.
Director Caleb Waters is hard at work, this week, to wrap-up projects in the nature center before the community comes out for a fun evening.
“The new display will be done,” Waters said. “We made a tree kids can actually crawl into, climb up the steps, and look out a hole we made. They can pretend they’re owls, if they want.”
“We’re excited about our new display,” he said.
Operation Supervisor Dalton Thompson will help Waters complete many projects before, Thursday.
“Dalton and I will have to work a couple of long days here, but we decided we will have it done,” Waters said.
According to Waters, other Nature Center renovations include touching up the pre-existing displays, painting the walls and floors, and giving the center “an overall facelift.”
