NEW LONDON — New London Community School District approved renovating the current elementary gym into classrooms, adding a new gym, building a weight room and expanding parking in September 2021.
SG Construction began work on this project last week.
“This work should be completed over the next five to six weeks,” Superintendent Chad Wahls told Technical Writing Class students Mason Shelledy, Boden Pickle, and Leo Gebauer. “The site will then sit dormant through the winter months until the precast walls are delivered in the first part of March. Then work will continue to happen until the completion of the project.”
Despite rain, the overall nice weather has helped SG Construction make progress.
So far, they have worked on excavating the footing trench, forming the footing for concrete, and tying in re-rod.
Concrete work has already begun.
According to Wahls, the target completion date for the project is November 2023.
