WAYLAND — Sunday morning thousands of RAGBRAI riders set out to make their way across Iowa and this Friday, July 26 they will make their way through Wayland.
Here’s what you need to know.
Wayland’s RAGBRAI Committee and community welcome riders to “Pedal to Our Porch” from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with music, activities, food, and plenty of photo ops.
From noon-4 p.m. The Boys will entertain with a country music concert in Central Park.
For those needing a cool-down, they can take a jaunt through the sprinklers set up along the Main Street event area or check out the Royal Flush. The RAGBRAI Committee describes the Royal Flush as their version of “a hilarious dunk tank,” that offers a way to cool off.
Additional activities will include yard games such as bags, hillbilly gold, and roller ball.
The WACO Boys Basketball team will host a “Caitlin Shot” game. Those that try to shoot like Caitlin will walk away with a vinyl sticker or logo. Those that succeed will win a shirt.
Those pedaling through Wayland for RAGBRAI are also invited to grab a marker and autograph the City’s leaf stackers, snap a photo with Old Glory between the leaf stackers, and pile around the Eichelberger Farms field equipment with their friendly farm pig and grab a photo.
Some of the day’s vendors will include The Community Table which consists of local organizations teaming up together to offer Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, pickles, hard boiled eggs, protein squares, and Gatorade.
Other vendors include The Farmer’s Turkey, Washington County Pork Producers & Eichelberger Farms, Uptown Scoops, The Tipsy Traveler, Solar Smoothies, Our Grandkids Ice Cream Stand, Your Choice Family Restaurant, and Boho Bailey.
Not only will RAGBRAI riders and support teams enjoy these activities and vendors as they make their way through, but the community is also invited to enjoy the day together as they welcome RAGBRAI to town.
After riders enjoy a good time in Wayland they will make their way to Mt. Pleasant for their last overnight before heading to Burlington Saturday and dipping their tires in the Mississippi.
