MT. PLEASANT — Cybersecurity is a serious topic in our modern day and age, and Henry County Board of Supervisors work to keep the digital world of Henry County safe.
Carosh Compliance Solutions Chief Operations Officer Stephanie Lathrop met with the supervisors to give an update on the county’s use of their services over this last year.
According to Lathrop, the county’s current overall completion rate for cybersecurity training with Carosh is at 44.7%.
This percentage did not include the secondary roads, road crew, but does include the office and administration.
A number of departments were put into a different category as they have different training requirements due to their natures of their jobs.
“So, last year, in comparison, your completion rate was at 42.6%, but that included those now excluded groups,” Lathrop said. “We really need to work on getting that above 80% because we think at that level you have an affirmative defense if there is a breach that happens.”
“Currently, your risk is low, we just need to get your completion percentage to that 80%,” she concluded after going over the annual audit with the board.
It was moved by Supervisor Marc Lindeen and seconded by Supervisor Chad White to approve the renewal with Carosh for HIPAA Select at $9,765.
The HIPAA Select service from Carosh is designed to help the county maintain privacy and security goals.
HIPAA Select provides privacy and security risk assessments, remediation plans, custom policy and procedures, workforce training, business associate management, annual support, security incident assessment, ongoing security and privacy audits, attestation, and access to a consultant.
The motion carried unanimously.
