MT. PLEASANT — Old Threshers Foundation President Todd Mabeus presented longtime Old Threshers supporters Paul and Joyce Dennison with the Golden Wheat award at this year’s reunion.
According to Mabeus, the Golden Wheat award was established several years ago by the foundation to recognize those that went above and beyond in their support of both Old Threshers and the foundation through their dedication of time, talent, and financial support.
Paul and Joyce’s dedication definitely goes above and beyond with Joyce serving on the foundation board for 27 years since 1997. The Dennisons are members of the Founders Club which is one of the highest levels of financial giving in the Old Threshers Foundation. Additionally, a donation of an antique tractor from the couple, which was then raffled, brought in $5,000 to the foundation’s endowment.
The Dennisons have also made their mark at Old Threshers with their financial contributions for the Santa House Project in 2020. They also donated an extensive snow village collection featuring 150 houses and buildings which are showcased at the Santa House.
As owners of the local radio station KILJ for the last 55 years, Paul and Joyce are longtime supporters of the grandstand stage at the Old Threshers Reunion, as well.
“Both are very involved in our community,” Mabeus said. “You will see Paul and Joyce working at the Methodist food stand here at the reunion. They are members of the Enhance Henry County Endowment Board. Joyce is a member of the PEO where she operates a bed-and-breakfast on their behalf. Her PEO Chapter hosts luncheons at Joyce’s house for visiting PEO chambers. Joyce is also a member of the Tri-T and Women’s Club.”
