MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant Director of Public Works Rick Mullin thanked the mayor and city council for allowing him to serve the city for the last 26 years as they accepted his letter of resignation at the Wednesday, Sept. 23 city council meeting.
After serving as the director of public works for 13 years and working for the city for a total of 26, Mullin will retire effective Nov. 29. Drew Schumacher, the current assistant public works director, will step into this position.
“It’s been a good time,” Mullin told the board.
Many of the council members thanked Mullin for his service and participated in good-humored teasing as they congratulated him on his retirement.
“You’ve done a great job, we really appreciate it,” Bob Griffith told Mullin.
Having served on the city council for 19 years and as mayor for 15 Steve Brimhall only had good things to say about Mullin.
“It's enjoyable to see Rick in the morning, figuring out what he's going to do, and he has really helped me out over the years,” Brimhall said. “I get a call from a from a constituent, and I say something to Rick. he gets it taken care of. That's very, very important to me. I appreciate you and all the time that we have worked together.”
