For most educators, their goal is to help develop lifelong learners. The same can be said for faculty and staff within Henry County’s four school districts. The largest district in Henry County belongs to Mt. Pleasant Community Schools.

The district is the 36th largest of Iowa’s 370 public school systems and has approximately 1,900 students.

Mt. Pleasant Community School District is known for its academics accolades, athletic accomplishments and outstanding fine arts.

The district operates one comprehensive high school; one alternative high school, Wisdom Quest (grades 10-12); one middle school; and four elementary schools, Van Allen, Lincoln, Harlan and Salem.

The District also provides the educational component for Christamore House, a court appointed juvenile facility located in the District.

The District provides a full range of services appropriate to students’ grades kindergarten through twelfth. These services include regular and enriched academic education; advanced placement classes; educational support for children with learning needs; talented and gifted programming; vocational education; and numerous individualized programs such as specialized instruction for students at risk and for limited English speaking students.
