MT. PLEASANT — With more sunshine-filled spring days ahead, Easter is just around the corner. In Henry County, a plethora of activities over the next two weekends will give residents ample opportunity to celebrate.
Beginning this Saturday, March 23, egg-hunters can choose between three events in Mt. Pleasant to kick off their Easter celebrations a little early.
Faith Christian Outreach Church invites children up to sixth grade to enjoy their Easter Egg-stravaganza “Rain or Shine, All inside.” The event, which begins at 10 a.m., will include an egg hunt, free food, face painting, bouncy house, crafts, and games.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, the new Mt. Pleasant Goodwill will host their own Easter activities. Children stopping by the store at 10:30 a.m. can hone their egg hunt skills before showing off their art abilities with a coloring contest for kids up to nine years old.
Additionally, the Goodwill Easter event will offer ring toss complete with candy and prizes, an opportunity to meet and greet the Easter bunny, and face painting while adults hunt for Manager specials and participate in their own Golden Egg Hunt. Activities will run until 4 p.m.
The fun will keep going in Mt. Pleasant on March 23 as Addington Place puts their own spin on an Easter Egg-stravaganza. From noon-1 p.m. Addington Place will serve free refreshments as they host a variety of children’s activities, including an appearance from the Easter bunny.
Of course, the event wouldn’t be complete without an egg hunt. At 12:30 p.m. sharp, a hunt with over 5,000 eggs, special prizes, and baskets will begin.
The fun won’t be contained to just Mt. Pleasant this weekend. Winfield and Hillsboro will both hold their Easter Egg hunts Saturday, March 23 as well.
Sunrise Terrace of Winfield welcomes the community to their annual Easter Egg Hunt for children through fifth grade beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Hillsboro Library will sponsor the community Easter bunny visit and egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. at city hall. Children through 10 years old will be divided into four age groups for the egg hunt.
After a weekend of egg hunts in Mt. Pleasant, the fun will continue in Henry County as the conservation center plans to host their own unique egg hunt Thursday, March 28.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. as hunters will scour Oakland Mills Park for Easter eggs, they’ll also come across deer antlers.
“Each spring, deer shed their antlers,” Henry County Conservation Department explains. “We have gathered up a few and hidden them around the park alongside traditional Easter eggs. Learn more about deer as you hunt for prizes.”
All ages are welcome to participate. Though the conservation department asks for preregistration, it is not necessary to attend. To register visit mycountyparks.com/county/henry.aspx and go to events.
More Easter fun will return bright and early to Mt. Pleasant Saturday, March 30 right before Easter Sunday with the annual Mt. Pleasant Fire Department pancake breakfast from 6-10 a.m.
Following the breakfast, Main Street Mt. Pleasant will host the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. in Central Park. Families will have the opportunity to visit with the Easter bunny and nab some eggs to fill their baskets at the event.
Trenton, Salem, and Mt. Union also will host Easter Egg Hunts the morning of Saturday, March 30.
The annual Trenton Egg Hunt will take off at 10 a.m. sharp, but other activities will celebrate the holiday prior to and following the hunt. The Trenton celebration will include face painting, a bounce house, and food available from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church group.
The Salem community’s egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. for children up to 12 years old. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to April 6.
The Mt. Union Booster Club and Imagine Recreating Mt. Union Park Committee will sponsor also sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 30 10 a.m. for children 1-10 years old at Eagle’s Landing Park.
Finally, that same afternoon, the annual egg hunt in Wayland will begin at 1 p.m. at West Park near Parkview Home.
