Failure to yield causes accident
Left turn leads to collision Tuesday morning

MT. PLEASANT — Tuesday morning just before 8 a.m. Mt. Pleasant Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Washington Street and South White Street for a two-vehicle collision.
According to a news release from the police department, at approximately 7:49 a.m. officers responded to reports of the collision.
Through an investigation, authorities determined that the accident happened due to a failure to yield upon left turn by Misty Kellogg.
“A white 2012 Chevrolet Traverse owned and operated by Misty Kellogg of Mt. Pleasant was westbound on Washington Street and stopped within the travel portion,” the release states.
According to the results of their investigation, Mt. Pleasant Police Department states that Kellogg failed to see a Black 2011 Honda Accord driven by Reece Coffman traveling East on Washington Street.
“A collision occurred with substantial damage to both vehicles,” the release states.
Kellogg was transported from the scene by ambulance and Coffman was later transported from to the hospital by a family member.
Kellogg’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 of damage and the vehicle driven by Coffman received an estimated $10,000 of damage.
According to the release, Kellogg received a citation for failure to yield upon left turn.
