SALEM — Salem Rec Association will host a family fun night at the ballpark Saturday, Sept. 30 to celebrate the end of another successful summer season with families and raise funds for a new snack shack and restrooms.
Beginning at 4 p.m. the Rec Association will offer a fun evening complete with water balloons, a bounce house, whiffle ball, kick ball, bags and a movie after dark.
In addition to family-friendly activities for the whole family, the evening will include two dinner options.
Starting at 5 p.m. guests will have their choice of freewill donation dinner options. They can either enjoy a pulled pork dinner or Friends of Salem Old Settler’s fish-fry dinner as they partner with the Rec Association for this fundraising endeavor.
The Rec Association will further raise funds at this event by offering adult beverages for purchase as the community comes together to celebrate and enjoy a fun-filled evening at the ballpark.
Currently the snack shack is one of the association’s biggest fundraisers thanks to volunteers that work the concession stand during Little League and adult coed softball games.
With a need for a new snack shack and restrooms however, this family fun night will provide a boost to their fundraising efforts.
According to Salem Rec Association Board Member Alicia Yocum, they have estimates for the project coming in at around $75,000.
Yocum says fundraising efforts are going well so far, and they have already raised approximately one quarter of the funds for the new snack shack and restrooms at the Salem ballpark.
