Family fun Carnival and Cinco De Mayo Block Party coming next weekend

MT. PLEASANT — Friday, May 5, those in the Henry County area will have the opportunity to participate in family fun at Clark Elementary’s annual Carnival or the Main Street Mt. Pleasant Cinco De Mayo Downtown Fiesta.

To enjoy the day with family friendly fun, visit New London’s Clark Elementary’s Third Annual PTO Carnival from 5-8 p.m.

For $5 per individual or $10 per family, guests will enjoy an evening of bounce houses, games, food and prizes.

One of the many games available will include Giant Jenga built by New London High School Industrial Technology students for the event.

Another fun activity will include a cookie walk thanks to donations of packaged bakery cookies from the community.

Proceeds from the carnival and carnival T-shirt sales will benefit the New London PTO.

Because of the generous donations from the community, the New London PTO has successfully hosted many family nights, book walls, a birthday book program, and back to school nights alongside other support for the district.

For those interested in an activity more focused on Cinco De Mayo, Main Street Mt. Pleasant has it covered.

From 5-7:30 p.m. downtown businesses and restaurants will host a Cinco De Mayo Block Party.

Throughout the event attendees will enjoy various food and drink stations at different locations throughout Downtown Mt. Pleasant.

Additionally, block party guests will enjoy a karaoke stop and photo stations as they celebrate.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. guests are invited to attend an after party in Central Park where Main Street will give away prizes, including a grand prize worth over $3,500 to Your Dream Home Furniture.

“The grand prize is $3,500 gift certificate to Your Dream Home Furniture,” Main Street Director Lisa Oetken said. “And you can pick out the furniture you want. We're not picking it out for you. You can customize it.”

To purchase the $20 tickets for the event, visit Main Street Mount Pleasant’s Facebook page and follow the Eventbrite link. Tickets also will be available for purchase the day of the event in person at the Union Block or Your Dream Home Furniture.

With the purchase of a ticket, individuals will gain admission to the party, a cup for the event, and an entry into the prize drawings.

For every $10 spent throughout the event, individuals can earn another ticket for the drawings.

Participants must be present at the after party drawing to win.
