Farmland Leasing and Management workshops still available

MT. PLEASANT — Throughout August Iowa State University Farm & Ag Business Management Specialists will continue to host Farmland Leasing and Management Workshops throughout Iowa, including Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant, and a webinar.

These workshops are an annual event to share educational resources related to Iowa farmland ownership and tenancy with Iowa farmland owners, tenants, and others involved in agricultural production in the state.

At these workshops ISU Farm & Ag Business Management Specialists will present information and updates on farmland leasing topics including: current cash rental rates, land values and crop price survey results, determining fair cash rent, tenant/landowner communications and legal aspects, approaches to writing and terminating a farm lease, and share ISU Extension web-based resources.

Those attending the 2–3-hour workshop will also receive a 100-page booklet of reference materials for farm leasing agreements included with their $20 registration fee.

Jefferson County Extension just hosted a workshop this past Tuesday, Aug. 2, but Henry County Extension will host another opportunity for Southeast Iowa in Mt. Pleasant Thursday, Aug. 24 beginning at 9 a.m.
