Fire houses invite public in for Fire Prevention Week

MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant and Winfield firehouses will host the public for Fire Prevention Week Oct. 8-14.

Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. Mt. Pleasant Fire Department will host an open house filled with family friendly activities in celebration of Fire Prevention Week.

This free event will give the public the opportunity to meet the firefighters, climb on the trucks, try on fire gear, talk with the fire mascot Sparky, spray a fire hose, and many other activities.

Only a few days later Saturday, Oct. 14, Winfield Fire and Rescue also will their firehouse to the public as they host their annual soup supper from 5-7 p.m.

Winfield Fire and Rescue will offer chili or cheesy potato soup, lettuce sandwiches, dessert, and a drink for a freewill donation.
