MT. PLEASANT—Main Street Mt. Pleasant will host their first ever January event this Thursday evening.
From 5-7 p.m., downtown business will offer all-you-care-to-eat pancakes and hot drinks for $10 during the Flapjacks and Flannels event.
“I saw a family’s Christmas post doing flapjacks and flannel and just thought that would be a fun activity for downtown Mt. Pleasant,” said Main Street Director Lisa Oetken.
“We don’t usually have an event in January,” she said. “This is the first time. It is a fun way to get people out in winter.”
Much like other Main Street events including the Wine Walk and Holiday on Main, patrons will walk around to various downtown businesses for this event.
“We will have four pancake stations,” Oetken said.
According to Oetken, participants will begin by paying their $10 at Your Dream Home Furniture.
Shear Advantages, Central Park Coffee and Bakery, and Big River Popcorn will host other flavor-themed pancake stations.
One station will offer s’mores toppings. Another will have peanut butter, bacon, and bananas for Elvis pancakes. One will have fruit toppings, and the final station will have caramel apple toppings for the flapjacks.
“Shear Advantage will have a gluten free option, too,” Oetken added.
In addition to flapjack stations, downtown businesses will offer hot drinks like hot chocolates with toppings, spiked hot chocolate, mulled wine, and hot cider.
Participating businesses will channel the flannel for this event, but Oetken invites those attending to wear their best flannel, too.
“Channel your favorite lumber jack and dress in flannel,” she encourages. “Wear a flannel hat, scarf, lined pants, whatever. The more flannel layers the better.”
“We will post pictures on our Facebook and have people vote for their favorite,” Oetken said.
Main Street will announce the flannel-fanatic with the most votes Monday. The winner will receive a gift basket filled with prizes from downtown businesses.
“Pancakes and hot chocolate are very kid friendly,” Oetken said. “It’s a great family event!”
