Mt. Pleasant Public Library’s Discovery Center will host Rotary Kids’ Day, Saturday

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant Public Library’s Children’s Department will offer free admission to their Discovery Center this weekend for Rotary Kids’ Day.

After opening this past March, the Discovery Center has seen a variety of children and families enjoy the many interactive play areas like the pretend kitchen and doctor’s office.

Over the past several months, children have enjoyed playing music, dressing up, and building as they discover new and different ways to play.

With fall officially making its way to southeastern Iowa, the center now offers slightly different hours, and with the assistance of the Rotary Clubs of Mt. Pleasant they will reveal some new displays and toys this Saturday, as well.

This Saturday, Oct. 28, Rotary is “excited to partner with the Mount Pleasant Evening Club on this district grant project for the Children's Discovery Center,” Noon Rotary posted on Facebook.

The event will run from 10 a.m.-noon

Rotary Kids’ Day will offer free admission, new interactive displays and toys, and every kid will leave with a book thanks to Rotary International, District 6000, and Mt. Pleasant Rotary.

Following this fun day at the Discovery Center, the library will continue to offer their fall hours:

Mondays 10 a.m.-noon

Thursdays noon-2 p.m.

Every other Saturday 10 a.m.-noon

The next open Saturdays will be Dec. 9 and 23 as the center will be closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and Nov. 23 and 25 for Thanksgiving.
