MT. PLEASANT — School transportation will look a little different when classes begin for the Mt. Pleasant Community School District this Friday, Aug. 23 as they enter the first year of grade-alike school buildings for elementary students.
The transition from neighborhood schools to grade-alike mean preschool-kindergarten students will attend classes at Harlan Elementary with Principal Katie Sands, first and second grade students will attend Lincoln Elementary with Principal Ashley Hoyer, and fourth through fifth grade students will attend Van Allen with Principal Melanie Collora.
For those dropping students off, the elementary buildings located within Mt. Pleasant will open their doors at 7:45 a.m. The morning tardy bell will ring at 8:25 a.m. in all elementary buildings.
Bus shuttles will be available for elementary students at the following times from these locations to their appropriate building:
7:55 a.m. Lincoln Elementary at the Corner of Green St. and Corkhill St.
7:55 a.m. Van Allen Elementary in front of main doors.
7:45 a.m. Harlan Elementary in front of main doors.
7:40 a.m. Wooden Park in the 400 Block of W. Madison.
7:45 a.m. Middle School at the south side of the building.
Each shuttle stop in town will be supervised beginning at 7:45 a.m. except the Wooden Park. This will not have supervision.
7:20 a.m. Kramer’s in Salem Square
7:22 a.m. Salem Elementary
At the end of the day carline pick up will begin at 3:07 p.m. for all elementary buildings. Schools also will dismiss walkers at this time.
Expected drop off time from grade-level attendance centers will be as follows:
3:10-3:20 p.m. Lincoln, Van Allen, and Harlan elementary schools
3:55 p.m. Wooden Park
3:30 p.m. Middle School
Students riding the shuttles to or from their designated schools must be routed through the school district transportation system. This means they will have specific pickup and drop-off locations and will need to use a bus badge card to get on and off the school bus.
For routing information contact Anna Carlson at anna.carlson@mtpcsd.org or call the transportation department at (319) 385-7784
