HC schools to host back-to-school nights
Students can meet their teachers, check out the buildings, and drop off supplies at back-to-school nights

MT. PLEASANT — With the beginning of the new school year just around the corner, local schools prepare to welcome students back and show off improvements made over the summer at back-to-school nights.
Mt. Pleasant
Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 4-6 p.m. Mt. Pleasant Community School District families can stop by their schools to drop off supplies and meet their teachers.
High school students will be able to check out their schedules and find room assignments when they stop by back-to-school night.
While these back-to-school nights are drop-in style, new middle schoolers are encouraged to stop by between 4-5 p.m. so they have extra time for questions.
This is also a good opportunity for families to meet many new teachers in the district.
Lincoln families can take the opportunity to check out the new vibrant paint job on the playground blacktop thanks to a recent PTA project.
High school families can take a look at the new HVAC system, especially the new duct socks in the gym.
The middle school also recently received and update in their gym with new maroon striping and a large MP on one end and a big panther head on the other end.
New London
Monday, Aug. 21 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
New London PTO invites Preschool-fifth grade students out to Clark Elementary to meet their new teacher, drop off supplies, connect with new and old friends and enjoy ice cream with toppings in the cafeteria.
While at the Back-to-School night, guests are invited to check out new improvements such as the new playground equipment and renovation of the gymnasium into classrooms.
WACO
Friday, Aug. 18 WACO will host an open house back-to-school event at the Junior/Senior High School from 3:30-6 p.m.
From 4:30-5:30 p.m. seventh-grade students can get their schedules, find their lockers, explore their classrooms, and most importantly meet their teachers.
From 5:30-6 p.m. the school will host an all parent and student meeting in the gym to review the various things that they do at the Junior/Senior High School, review nursing procedures, answer any questions, and set general expectations for the year.
Seventh-graders also will receive their Chromebook at this time.
Returning students can use this time to get their schedule, see their teachers, organize their lockers, and square away any other concerns before school starts.
If a family has a new student preparing to attend WACO, this year, and cannot make the open house, they are encouraged to reach out to the school to schedule a time to check out the building and go through all the information before Aug. 18.
The school is currently open for professional learning and students are welcome to come by before the scheduled open house.
WACO Elementary students can stop by for their back-to-school night Monday, Aug. 21 from 4:20-5:30 p.m. to drop off supplies and meet their teachers.
Winfield-Mt. Union
Monday Aug. 21 starting at 4:30 Winfield-Mt. Union School will host back-to-school activities.
Open House Backpack Night will run from 4:30-6 p.m. at the school.
The Big Red Pride Booster Club will host a carnival and activities and activities from 5-6:45 p.m. outside by the football field.
The outdoor concession stand will offer meal options from 5-6:30 p.m.
The football, volleyball, and cross-country players will offer a meet the players session at 7 p.m. on the football field.
As families drop off supplies, visit with school staff, sports players, and get excited for the upcoming school year, they can also check out facilities updates throughout the school including brick tuck pointing, replacements of double doors, water filling stations in locker rooms, new elementary classroom furniture, lighting updates, new library shelving and other updates and improvements.
