MT. PLEASANT — Jackie Myers, the Henry County Clerk of Court until recently, announced she has accepted a new position with court administration as she introduced the new Henry County Clerk of Courts Sarah Maddox at the Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday, Sept. 5.
According to Myers, her new position as Assistant District Court Administrator began Friday, Aug. 30 and her new duties will include taking charge of all the clerk of court operations for all the counties in the Iowa Judicial District 8. These counties include Appanoose, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee North, Lee South, Louisa, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek, Van Buren, Wapello, and Washington.
“So, what that means is we have a new clerk of court for Henry County, and it's bittersweet for me, because I love being a clerk of court, but it's going to be great for Henry County,” Myers said.
Myers introduced Maddox to the Henry County Board of Supervisors and county department heads explaining that she comes to this position with 25 years of experience in the judicial branch. Maddox worked in Des Moines and Louisa counties before making her way to Henry County for this position.
“It is my great honor to pass the torch to her,” Myers said. “She is going to do an excellent job. I will be mentoring her, of course, that's part of my new gig, but I'm very proud of her, because she has been a team member of mine for the majority of my career as a clerk of court.”
Maddox greeted those in attendance with excitement for the new position telling those in attendance that she is “excited to be here” and “excited to take on this new position and all that it entails.”
