Thursday April 14 Caleb Waters brought a need to fill two vacancies on the Conservation Board to the Board of Supervisors. that needed filled quickly as the conservation department is coming into their busy season.
While the posting for one position was originally set to close April 15, the board opted to extend the posting to find the additional board member.
Applicants should be county residents who are passionate about public land conservation, want to promote conservation to future generations, are willing to work with the public and attend conservation board meetings.
Waters also asked to be a part of the interviews for the new board members.
The conservation department is also looking for enthusiastic campers to fill the role as campground hosts.
Campground hosts are paid positions and do require the ability to pass a background check.
Ultimately, hosts are the face for the department because they are on the ground at the campsites interacting with the campers the most, Waters said.
Duties will include taking reservations, putting out reservation cards, providing camper needs, keeping the campground stocked and tidy, and being a general go-between for Waters and the campers.
Applicants or volunteer can reach out to Waters at 319-986-5067 and check the Henry County website for additional information.
